    Must admit I googled GPU Architechture but I then read the pdf from John Owen from UC Davies from SIGGRAPH 2007. So while I'm a faker, I'm a well read faker :)

     

    The buzz words where all from the nice picture of the AMD 'Deerhound' K8L PU

     

    So i guessed he was showing it for a reason but correct me if Im wrong its not actually a GPU?

    You're totally right, it's not a GPU at all. It's a regular processor, but the picture is there to illustrate his point. If you see the block he has marked red around is the integer/floating point units ( The ones that does actual computations ) which are 2 floating point multipliers, 2 floating point adders, plus 3 integer units. On the newer graphics cards (GTX 280 ) there are 240 of them, which is why they outperform on graphics ( graphics calculations are basically loads of multiplication and adds )
