Looking for a social kin

Hi all, I've recently returned from a few months off due to RL changes and a lack of broadband, and found myself kinless. My time in LOTRO has always been a sightseeing adventure with a bit of questing thrown in. This passes as a vague explanation as to why my highest level character Connheath is just approaching lvl 35 after 2 yrs! He does make good pies though when supplied with produce from my farming Elf, Tammuz.

So I'm looking for a kinship for social reasons mainly with a bit of work on Book quests etc and whatever Middle Earth throws at me. I'm 41 and married with too many Hobbits for our mediocre hole so game time isnt what it was, but I'm online a few days a week after 9pm.

The Jesters sound like a kin I could enjoy playing with so I would be grateful if you could consider my application.

it appears that a fair few of us are in need of group questing. for example Volume 2 bits, Volume 2 in general and other associated items.

So while currently in game (on follow to lily ) Had the idea of if we could see if we could do a bit of a regular "group helping night". basically a night where there's a fair few of us on to help doing group quests etc.

Hello all, I am new here and am returning to Lotro after a much too long break. I had heard about the Jesters in the online world and so I decided to take a look at the website and see if Jesters is a Kin i would like to become a part of. I am definately impressed, this kin is definately one I'd love to be a part of as it seems so casual but yet it seems closely bonded. So, if someone could please contact me here or meet me somewhere in the game world (i'll most likely be somewhere in Ered Luin) then i'd love to officially become a part of this kin (: (that is of course if you will have me)

Have had a few BSODs recently and yesterday my PC gave up and went into a coma.

Suspected memory problems and since I have 4Gb of RAM installed (4x1Gb modules) decided to pull a pair of modules and see if PC would start, luckily that did the trick and PC woke from it's coma.

Have also been playing TigerWoods PGA TOUR ONLINE so wont be spending as much time in LotRO, will be dropping by now and again though.

As one of the three founders of the Jesters it's with sadness that I see the kinship go... The name 'The Jesters' was always meant to be a symbol of our fun, and our desire not to take the game too seriously; to be a kinship that existed for fun, not for raiding. A kinship that accepted anyone of any level, with the aim of having a laugh together. It seems a shame to throw away a name that was featured in a national magazine as one of the most fun kinships in Middle Earth... But what do I know?

I know that I'm not around much these days, though I was hoping to start to rectify that issue, and I understand that with diminishing numbers partaking in quests was becoming more and more difficult, however I don't think I will be joining 'The Lost Alliance'. I'll stick with a Jester title for as long as it's going, and if you choose to disband it altogether let me know, and I will begin anew.

Good luck to all. I've enjoyed my time here (three years?) and I am sorry to see things draw to a close...

All the best in The Lost Alliance; I hope you all find your way there.

Time to say goodbye

Well folks in typical Raggy fashion:....

It's time for me to call it a day from regular Lotro gaming, to be honest this day has been coming for a very long time now as my life has changed so dramatically since Isabella has been born.

Initially I kept playing Lotro almost daily to help the hardcore keep the kin going, then when Chug needed to devote more time to RL I became leader and spent most of my online time trying to keep the old girl going. During which I had to make some difficult choices (especially as MoM drove away so many of our best, brightest & craziest Jesters) to stop a mass exodus and the death of the kinship.

I stand by all the choices I made as, at the time, they were in the best interest of keeping JoME going as we lost too many casual gamers with MoM.

However I do deeply regret some of the fallout of those choices and for that, Rowie and Chug I openly and sincerely apologise to you both.

Now Lily is back as the 7th (and 2nd :S) leader with Chug holding her hem, I feel confident the kin is once again in safe hands and I can leave regular gaming to those with more time.

Thank you all for everything over the past 2.5 years I have been a Jesters regular and good luck in rebuilding this once amazing ship of state

Hi all :)

Not sure if i'll be able to get on today - probably not so I thought I'd kick start this thread with a couple of thoughts.

Been with the Jesters for just over a year now, just wanted to take a quick moment to say a very big thank you to all of you for being so welcoming and giving me and others the best environment to play the game in. You're all great people and I couldn't of asked for a better group of people to join or ally with with our continued alliance with the DoM.

Here's hoping 2010 will continue the festivities, all the best everyone and get merry, have fun, and i'll see you all in the New Year!

Hello smellies,

After 5 and a half eventful weeks on honeymoon in New Zealand, I'm now posting from the comfort of my home pc downloading the entire Earth's amount of stuff on LOTRO. Am I downloading this new Mirkwood thing automatically or do I have to order anything extra? I've seen in a couple of posts about some extra whizzies but haven't read all posts properly yet. Maybe I'll get ingame soon and speak to folk, but I only flew into the country today and jetlag's a bit of a nightmare, so it might be tomorrow.

We had a great time in New Zealand and I'll let you know ALL about it... for weeks and weeks to come.. mwahahaha!

I have neglected my duties as a lore master lately :( I apologise.

As some of you know Uni has given me so much to do, i am currently working on a presentation i have to do tomorrow lol fun -_-

Then i have my Ludology project, then i have to finish my concept document and draw pictures lol. may not sound a lot but it is.

Christmas holidays come soon and i shall have time off at some point so i will come online to say hi and try to finally make it to lvl 60 lol

Its been drawn to my attention that despite all being fans you don't really seem to have grasped what Twilight is about so I thought I'd clear a few things up for you girls before any more foolish mistakes are made!

First up this is what the lead actor normally looks like when trying to act before they add the CGI etc... Post effects work he simply looks blandly gormless, ya know like the people equivalent of celery... or maybe leek.

I'm sure you'll agree the character in the background here would have made the whole film much more interesting and added some credibility, sadly it didn't turn out this way as they couldn't afford Wesley Snipes.

Good news for Wesley there... cos Twilight is really awful! I mean I figured Twilight was bad, but I assumed that it would at least be inteligible.

But for people who haven't read the books it's a jumbled mess of inexplicable motivations and events. Like when with almost no explanation, a game of Vampire Lightning Baseball is interrupted by the sudden CLIMAX OF THE MOVIE... out of nowhere, in which a character that has literally been on screen for 30 seconds so far is now at the crux of the movie's major dramatic arc?
I'll tell you what is scary - this movie's inability to follow any rational structure of plot or character development.

Anyway, to cut a long rant short(ish) I have provided a bullet-point summary of the whole Twilight thing in order to educate and inform you.

Teenage vampires travel from high school to high school pretending to be incestuous siblings, because that is just a smart cover story.
Teen vampires always sit in a semi-circle around their lunch table facing away from each other, makes it easier to give everyone "f**k me" eyes.
Vampires know just where to find rays of sunlight in an otherwise gray forest, FACT.
When you transfer to a new school, it will somehow be prom right away.
Although vampires can hit baseballs very, very far, the outfielders must remain at a regulation distance from the plate and then run fast into the woods to find the ball.
If you're a bad vampire, wearing shirts is optional.
Edward can read everyone's mind except Bella's (perhaps a "she is clinically brain dead" twist in future films?)
Vampires cannot go out in the sun because their skin sparkles and everyone will know they are vampires (or extras in a Lady Gaga video)
You can throw off a Tracker Vampire by rubbing a hoodie on a tree.
Some vampires have psychic visions that can only be transcribed in charcoal drawings
If you are a bad vampire who hangs out in a crew of bad vampires, and one of those bad vampires is black and has dreadlocks, watch out for him, because he will betray you for no reason, like right away
Although in danger it would probably be faster for vampires to use their superspeed to get away, sometimes they just like to drive!
Sometimes vampires have venom and sometimes they don't?
Going back to Vampire Baseball for a second: it is important to wear a "baseball" hat in a way that makes you look like a special needs child.

Iam looking about and I see that they put a date for the SoM release and I got excited.

Hey,

As most of you already knew, I have cancelled my sub! It ends 12 Nov (or there abouts), wasn't really gonna post anything about going until tonight...

As most of you know the decision come after a loss of interest in the game and the ever growing amount of course work I've got atm. After a pretty, intense day, with plenty of tears to boot (stress really aint my thing) I've had to take the decision and say toodles to you all earlier than planned. Had hoped I'd still be able to pop on every now and then and do the odd instance etc with you all, but they way things are going and if tonights anything to go by it aint gonna be worth even trying.

So it's with a few tears (just a few mind you) that i have to say my goodbyes to you all [:'(]

I will try and hang about the forums when i need a bit of sanity, and youre all more than welcome to add me to msn (pinky_l564@hotmail.com) or facebook Laura Sharp if you wish ofc, and i will try and pop on every now and again to LoTRO if time allows (if not shout at me and tell me to get off, I wont take offence, honest!)

A toy for flickr & google and the reason I've not been on much

I'm been pretty busy over the last few months and havn't really been playing much.

Some of you probably know I work "messing about with the internet" (I built this site in fact). I've been squirreled away building imapflickr.com, with a team of designers and developers, just for fun, because we can. Its a website that allows you to create google maps of your flickr photosets. If you use flickr much (I do) then you might find this handy. It allows you to create google maps of your flickr photosets and put them online, without actually having to do any of the clever coding stuff that makes these things a pain in the arse to do yourself complicated.

Not much use if you don't use flickr, but thought I'd mention it anyway! The website can be found here. It took me, another developer, a talented illustrator and a web designer to build it. Probably about 5 weeks total man hours, and two months from idea to go-live.

So, I imagine some of you may have seen this coming (given that I haven't exactly been ever present for months on end!). I am taking a long, possibly permanent break from the game. There are many reasons for this, a more active social life being one, a fairly intense dislike for Moria being another, but be reassured it has nothing to do with you chaps.

As this is my 'leaving' post, I'd just like to drudge up a few memories of the Jesters that some of you may have been part of.

My first memory of the Jesters was during the beta and, suitably enough, being a little bit tipsy in Tom Bombadil's house with, who would later become, Lily and Chugs. They recruited me into a kin named Glittering Gold. Terrible name for a kin, so I was tasked with coming up with the name for our kin on release. Naturally I failed miserably to do this and Chugs came up with the name The Jesters of Middle Earth. There was some heated discussion over who would be leader (nobody wanted the job) but Chugs was the first one to either reach sufficient amounts of silver, or the right level - I forget which! And from that the kin went from strength to strength with a variety of fun get togethers (including the naked conga which even saw a picture in a national games magazine - yay for us). I had months and months of fun with you chaps, be it when group 2 finally took down the Balrog after many nights running The Rift, slowly but surely getting better, or the early days when we were young and naive, running the Great Barrows and Herne kiting a wight lord around the room whilst I desperately ran through the Barrows to try and finish him off.

So yes, I have had many a good night with a large number of you, and whilst I am certainly sad to leave that behind, the higher levels and more recent areas introduced really haven't captured the same magic for me as running through the Trollshaws, North Downs or even dark and dreary Angmar! I shall most likely stick around the forums, and pop my head in every now and again. And I do still have 3 months of game-time left, so I may pop in every now and again to see if I can convince myself to start playing again. And who knows, when the next expansion comes out and I don't have to run around underground I may well look to rejoin you.

Until then, however, I wish you all good luck and good fun.

Plus if any of you end up in Star Wars: The Old Republic when it's released, I'll probably see you there .
